Tasmanian Pepperberry (Tasmannia lanceolata)
Tasmanian Pepperberry (Tasmannia lanceolata)
Wild picked from our NW Tasmanian property, these whole air-dried pepperberries have a complex taste - woody, camphor, cinnamon, plum and gingery, after which their sharp pepper taste and lingering heat becomes apparent (hotter than black pepper).
They can be used in cooking where you would usually have black pepper, but also amazing to infuse salad dressings, sauces, mustard, flour mixes, pastas, cocktails, cheese, ice cream - and honey! Our leatherwood pepperberry honey is DELICIOUS and super popular.
Pepperberries are also proven to be highly nutritious. Full of anti-oxidants (four times higher than blueberries), they also contain contain high concentrations of Vitamin E, folate, zinc, calcium, magnesium and iron.
Pepperberry has long been recognised in indigenous culture for flavouring, preservation, and in traditional medicine due to its antibacterial properties.
