Honey As A Yeast Infection Remedy PDF Print E-mail

Vaginal Yeast Infection

Vaginal Yeast Infections, also known as vaginal thrush, is experienced by at least 3/4 of all women at least once in their lives. It is caused by chemical imbalances in the delicate system of bacteria and fungus (Candida albicans). Most of these bacteria and fungus thrive on sugar, so one may ask why use honey? Raw, unpasteurised honey is a different kind of sugar. Honey helps to bring the pH balance, which is thrown off by the bacteria and fungus, back to its normal level. Honey contains several bacteria that attack the abnormal fungus infection, bringing the pH level back into balance. Honey also moisturises the irritated skin where the infection occurs, as well as alleviating all symptoms of the infection such as itching and burning.

The remedy involves applying honey liberally to the affected area. This can be done quite easily with a squeese bottle of honey used solely for this treatment. Allow to stay on the area for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Do this twice a day, once in the morning and once before going to bed at night.

Yeast Infections can also show up in other areas of the body, such as under the breast and other skin creases, and on almost any warm, wet area of the body, such as the gums. Apply a thick coat of honey on the affected area for several hours, two to three times per day.
